Poems, Quotes: Intimacy

Connubial

Because with alarming accuracy
she’d been identifying patterns
I was unaware of-this tic, that
tendency, like the way I’ve mastered
the language of intimacy
in order to conceal how I felt-

I knew I was in danger
of being terribly understood.

–    Stephen Dunn

With callused hands

i tasted
the softness of the moon

in the coldest winds
i discovered
my soul’s
warmest fireplace

in the roughness
of his stubble
the tenderest love.

 –   Sanober Khan, A Thousand Flamingos

Intimacy is the capacity to be rather weird with someone – and finding that that’s ok with them. – Alain de Botton

I wonder if this is how people always get close: They heal each other’s wounds; they repair the broken skin. – Lauren Oliver, Pandemonium

My willingness to be intimate with my own deep feelings creates the space for intimacy with another. – Shakti Gawain, picked from The 50 Best Quotes on Self-Love at Psyhology Today

Being apart was wrong. Simply lying side by side did more for a relationship than words. A warm bed, a nest of animal intimacy. Words could be misunderstood, whereas loving companionship bred trust. – Michel Faber, The Book of Strange New Things

Intimacy is not purely physical. It’s the act of connecting with someone so deeply; you feel like you can see into their soul. – Reshall Varsos

Poem, Articles: Affectionate Pearls II

In an ancient
Egyptian time
but in your
current
appearance,
you give
me the
pearl necklace.

There is
a new
nuance
in this
meditation
that cannot
be described,
and a
most delicate
energy
surrounds
the third
eye.

– They lasted
through time,
my guide
confirms
afterward
what had
been
shown.
Yes,
of course,
they already
used pearls
in the ancient
times,
I never
thought
about it.

I perform a
quick search
for articles to
prove that to
my concrete
mind.

My intuitive
affinity
to pearls
got specified,
my larger self
and little self
unified.

Poem: Soft Companion

soft
words
drop
from the
heavens
like
tender
snow flakes

encouraging,
lifting,
supporting

Never
tired
of repeating
that what
is meant
to be

understanding
humanness
blissful
energy
wraps around
the body

transforms
worry
into smiles

Poem: Cosmic Millionaires

Those who
have
dug
deep,
may never
be able to
explain
where
they´ve
been.

And
there is
no need to,
their own
souls
know,
and that´s
enough.

And not
everything
needs to
be understood,
there are
space giving
people
as such.

Everybody
is doing
their
thing
to the
best of
their
current
ability.

To be
understood
by a
glimpse
is then a gift
like being
a cosmic
millionaire.

Basically
that´s what
we all are.
